ACCRA HIGH SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL

Accra High School was founded by the late Rev. James Thomas Roberts on 17 August 1923.The school, was located at beach avenue in Aayalolo, a suburb of Accra, Ghana. The school celebrated its first anniversary in August 1924 with a church service at the Holy Trinity Cathedral, Accra and the sermon was delivered by the Anglican Bishop of Accra, the late Dr. John Aglionby. Thus, there was a tie between the school and the Church of England. In 1924, the school entered its first candidates for the college of preceptors as well as for the Cambridge University, the royal society of Arts and Pitman's Shorthand Examinations in the United Kingdom. In 1926, most of the pupils sat and passed the junior Cambridge Examination.

ACHIMOTA SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL

Achimota School, formerly Prince of Wales College and School, Achimota, later Achimota College, now nicknamed Motown, is a co-educational boarding school located at Achimota in Accra, Greater Accra, Ghana. The school was founded in 1924 by Sir Frederick Gordon Guggisberg, Dr. James Emman Kwegyir Aggrey and the Rev. Alec Garden Fraser. It was formally opened in 1927 by Sir Frederick Guggisberg, then Governor of the British Gold Coast colony. Achimota, modelled on the British public school system, was the first mixed-gender school to be established on the Gold Coast.

ACCRA ACADEMY

The Accra Academy was the first private academy to be established in the Gold Coast, present-day Ghana.The academy is one of the foremost secondary educational institutions in Ghana and operates as a non-denominational day and boarding boys' school, located at Bubuashie, near Kaneshie in the Greater Accra Region.

The academy runs courses in business, science, general arts, general agric and visual arts, leading to the award of a West African Senior School Certificate

Ghanata Senior High School is a public senior high school located in Dodowa in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. Built in 1936, initially in Adidome in the Volta region of Ghana, the school's median name was Gold Coast People's College. It was founded by Rev. E. Osabutey Aguedze

PRESEC LEGON

Presbyterian Boys' Secondary School (PRESEC) is a secondary boarding school for boys, in Legon, Accra, Ghana. It was founded in 1938, under the auspices of the Presbyterian Church of the Gold Coast.The Basel missionary, Nicholas Timothy Clerk (1862–1961), who served as the first Synod Clerk of the Presbyterian Church of the Gold Coast from 1918 to 1932, used his tenure to advocate for the establishment of the secondary school. The school has ties with its sister schools, Aburi Girls' Senior High School and Krobo Girls Senior High School.

ODORGONNO SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL

The school was established as a boys' day school in 1940 on the crest of the Odaw River at Adabraka in the Greater Accra Region by Joseph Thomas Leigh and three other teachers at the Accra High School. It was taken into the government system and moved to Awoshie, which is its current location, in 1990. In 1993, it became co-educational, began boarding in 2007, and gained model school status on 25 November 2008.

WEST AFRICAN SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL

The school started in Tudu as the West Africa College of Commerce in 1946. In 1954, the school was absorbed into the public system. The school's exodus saw her at three different locations in Accra, first in Tudu, then to Accra New Town and finally the great exodus to its permanent abode, Adentan on October 5, 1987/88

LABONE SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL

In 1949, six leaders of Ghana saw the need to establish an educational institution to cater for the educational needs of the young people staying around Osu and La and its environs. A private school was therefore established at Ako Adjei Area.

At independence, the first president of Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah, realized that to achieve his ideals with respect to the rapid development of the country, educational facilities should be widespread and brought to the doorstep of each Ghanaian child.

The Ghana Educational Trust was therefore instituted during the 1st republic and was charged with the construction of school buildings throughout the country, including Labone. ST MARY SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL

St. Mary's Senior High School was established on 6 February 1950 by the Catholic missionary sisters known as Sister Servants of the Holy Spirit(SSPS).The school started with ten girls and a staff of two(2) Reverend sisters namely: the late Reverend Sisters, Jane and Rosette.

The school has an alliance with Accra Academy, which is seen as the brother school of St. Mary's Senior High School. This alliance is aimed at promoting intellectual development between students of both institutions. Their alliance involves the sharing of social gatherings and entertainment.

ST THOMAS AQUINAS SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL

St. Thomas Aquinas Senior High School is a Ghanaian public day senior high school for boys in the Osu, district of Accra in the Greater Accra Region. The school is currently located in Cantonments, a suburb of Accra. It was established mainly to provide education for boys of the Accra Archdiocese whose parents could not afford the high cost then of sending their male children to boarding schools. It was among five secondary schools established in 1952.
